Bistango Terraforming Underway

Our top story tonight: Consortium representatives have announced an official start to the much-anticipated Bistango Project. At 0700 hours Galactic Standard Time, the newly constructed Consortium ship ECS Ascendant began terraforming operations from orbit in the Bistango System.

The Ascendant, which we are told was built specifically for this ambitious project, is a Caernaven class vessel that was quite prominent in the early years of the Terran-Kilrathi war. A VSI representative told ESNN that the company has been in the possession of the original Caernaven blueprints for quite some time, but that building the ship before would have been a waste of manpower and resources. Quite simply, the Bistango Project is the largest organized effort in ESC history, and its sheer magnitude required the construction of a new tool.

With the Ascendant available to transport the enormous amount of necessary materials and resources, a Consortium-Commonwealth task force has begun reactivating the gravitational generators on the surface of Bistango. The generators make the planet hospitable by lessening what is otherwise an unbearable level of atmospheric pressure.

However, we're receiving reports that several of the generators were unable to be activated due to the unexpected level of destruction in the surrounding ruins - results of the war. It's expected that the Consortium and the Commonwealth will begin offering contracts to private parties for the repair and reactivation of the generators in coming weeks.

In other news, a corporate regulator under Consortium contract was found dead on Sting late last night. The corpse was left on a landing pad with a note pinned to its chest: "Hear's ur taxes".
