On March 5, 2013, Wing Commander: New Horizon MUSH was shut down due to lack of activity. Thanks to the staff and players for your support. We had a good run and created some amazing memories. Keep in touch on the Facebook page for the game, which will be preserved.
The entire game's codebase and database (minus player information) has been open-sourced and released to the public, and the game itself is back up to help support the code at wcmush.com 2199!
Breaking news this afternoon from the Morpheus System. Scans of the system's only star show fluctuating gravitational instabilities and a drastic increase in the amount of potent solar flares. Scientists have concluded that these are signs of an impending supernova that will undoubtedly have a drastic affect on everything in the system.
There are currently no residential colonies in Morpheus, though there are several gas mining operations on the system's third planet which have already begun evacuating. With the minimal threat to life, the supernova is being regarded as a scientific opportunity to study a fairly rare natural phenomenon. Some researchers predict that the shockwaves from the supernova may result in the formation of other, smaller stars in Morpheus.
In an effort to collect as much data as possible, Von Sprechen Industries has begun offering increased payments for survey reports of the Morpheus star. The increased payouts will last until the supernova occurrs, which is predicted to be approximately one week from today.
The Kilrathi Commonwealth city of Traggil on Cabrea II has been declared an official gathering point for scientific communities who wish to discuss and pursue joint studies of the Morpheus star.
