On March 5, 2013, Wing Commander: New Horizon MUSH was shut down due to lack of activity. Thanks to the staff and players for your support. We had a good run and created some amazing memories. Keep in touch on the Facebook page for the game, which will be preserved.
The entire game's codebase and database (minus player information) has been open-sourced and released to the public, and the game itself is back up to help support the code at wcmush.com 2199!
"We interrupt this program to go live to Shintahr Inthrak nar Hhallas Memorial Prison, where according to our sources, several prisoners have escaped amidst a terrible accident. Our own Kalrana Kurutak has the story. Kalrana?"
"Thank you, Veronica. Only one prisoner escaped, but many more were injured several hours ago when the Commonwealth prison transport ship 'Second Chance' lost engine power on approach and slammed into the side of a prison warehouse, starting a fire and collapsing part of the building. Despite the chaos, the prisoners-- most of whom were Kilrathi-- surrendered to the whims of their guards, with the exception of one human inmate."
A picture of Kole Devar fills the screen, with the reporter's voice in the background. "Kole Devar, recently convicted of murder, chose to utilize this tragedy to his own personal advantage. In the chaos, he somehow managed to escape the prison compound. Reviews of prison security cameras show a man-- believed to be Devar-- running unclothed toward an access road outside of the prison, where Commonwealth officials assume he flagged down a vehicle and slipped away."
"Honorable Magistrate Kan'krit Kuritak, presiding over Devar's case, issued the following statement on behalf of the Commonwealth legal system: 'It saddens me that Kole Devar chose to betray his own honor. It is with this sadness that I must hereby place upon his head a bounty in the sum of one-hundred and twenty-five thousand(125000) credits, payable upon receipt of his identifiable self, living -or- deceased, to agents of the Kilrathi Commonwealth.'"
"According to the Traggil Police Department, Devar is to be considered armed and extremely dangerous. He is known to be rash and immoral, and will not hesitate to use deadly force against others in his bid for freedom. He is also known to pilot a Sekhmet-class fightercraft named 'Amunet'. If seen, the Traggil police urge caution in apprehending the suspect, again stressing his tendency toward violence."
"We at KCN will keep you updated as the situation develops."
