On March 5, 2013, Wing Commander: New Horizon MUSH was shut down due to lack of activity. Thanks to the staff and players for your support. We had a good run and created some amazing memories. Keep in touch on the Facebook page for the game, which will be preserved.
The entire game's codebase and database (minus player information) has been open-sourced and released to the public, and the game itself is back up to help support the code at wcmush.com 2199!
The Twenties, as they're collectively called, are an offshoot of the Society for Creative Anachronism, geared towards focus on the 20th-22nd centuries. Where more 'traditional' members focus more on the middle ages (and are often referred to as 'Rennies'), the Twenties focus on the rise of the electronic age and the growth of the information society.
More devout members do try for some historical accuracy in their reenactments, which leads to a slew of side-groups focusing on specific decades or particular 'flavours', such as the 'Spacies' who focus on the rise of the space program, and even the early history of the Terran Confederation.
Organised gatherings are often a mishmash of cultural history and mismatched details, as devout and casual members mingle. It's not entirely unheard of to see a member wearing a 1930s zoot suit while carrying around an arm-mounted datapad made in the 2160s.
