On March 5, 2013, Wing Commander: New Horizon MUSH was shut down due to lack of activity. Thanks to the staff and players for your support. We had a good run and created some amazing memories. Keep in touch on the Facebook page for the game, which will be preserved.

The entire game's codebase and database (minus player information) has been open-sourced and released to the public, and the game itself is back up to help support the code at 2199!

Revilite is a naturally occuring mineral that can only be found deep beneath the surface on various planets in the Vespus system. Over the course of centuries, the mineral is subjected to great deals of subsurface pressure before eventually being exposed to the unique atmospheric conditions of the planet in a process that results in cellular regenerative properties.

The regenerative properties of Revilite were discovered in the 27th century when people first began to claim that the hot springs on the Vespus resorts were able to heal the sick. In 2680, three corporations - The Guinterin Combine, the Taffin Reclamation, and Von Sprechen Industries - jointly purchased the entire planet of Vespus I with the intention of refining and marketing Revilite for consumer use. They developed a proprietary manufacturing process that was able to simulate the planet's naturally occurring development cycle in a fraction of the time. The resulting product was named Revilify.

Controversy followed the production of Revilify. Confed politicians accused the corporate owners of maintaining a monopoly on a potentially life-saving product that they claimed should be made available to everyone, free of charge. Revilify was capable of eliminating the most debilitating diseases with almost total reliability and hardly any side effects. The corporations weren't about to give it away for free. A war of political sanctions and trade regulations ensued until the culmination of the Terran-Kilrathi war and the near-total eradication of the Terran Confederation in the late 2680's.

Now, with the freedom to do business as they see fit under a government structure of their own design, the production of Revilify has become a cornerstone of industry in the Enigma Sector. The manufacturing process remains a closely guarded secret, allowing almost complete market control by just a handful of individuals. However, in recent years many people have begun experimenting with the raw form of the Revilite mineral. It too exhibits certain cellular regenerative properties, but it is extremely unstable in its original form. It is also extremely addictive.

Today, strung out Revilite junkies line the streets of most major urban centers in the Vespus system, desperately trying to get their next fix. It's even rumored that there is a cult somewhere in the Enigma Sector whose members have learned to harness the full potential of Revilite, giving them the ability to halt the aging process entirely. It's used in small amounts for religious ceremonies in several different faiths, and the rich consider the powdered form of it to be a culinary delicacy. In one way or the other, Revilite is a way of life in the Enigma Sector.
